Flame Control Mastics

Flame Control Mastics

Flame Control Mastics are a new generation of ASBESTOS-FREE protective, thermal barrier, coatings. They retard the spread of flame and penetration of heat through their intumescent-sublimative-ablative and synergistic flame supressing action. On contact with flame or excessive heat, Flame Control Mastics decompose and expand (intumesce) forming a thick, dense, fire barrier that shields the substrate. These mastic coatings function in the following manner:

1. They prevent the propagation of fire along the surface, thereby confining the fire and minimizing damage.

2. They protect the substrate from heat penetration during a fire, retarding structural failure, and retarding short-circuiting of grouped cables.

3. When applied on electrical, control, and communication cables, the mastic coatings greatly reduce the deadly smoke generated during a fire, minimizing smoke damage and possible loss of life.

Flame Control Fire Coatings

For The Protection Of:
Structural Steel Beams and Columns - Grouped Electrical, Control & Communication Cables and Supporting Trays - Aircraft Engine Fire Walls and Components - Off-Shore Drilling Rigs - Fuel and Storage Tanks - Ammunition Crates - Missile Warheads - Railway Ties and Trestles - Mass Transit People Movers - Ship Bulkheads - and other surfaces requiring positive fire protection.

Used By:
Nuclear and Fossil Fuel Power Generation Plants, Communication Companies, Utilities, Ship Builders, Aircraft and Aerospace Industries, Railroad and other Transportation Companies, Factories, Warehouses, Oil and Chemical Installations, Military Installations

Used On:
All surfaces where it is either necessary or desirous to reduce the surface burning characteristics of combustible materials and/or to retard the penetration of heat.

Most Flame Control Fire Protective Coatings have been tested for compliance with one or more of the following flammability standards:

IEEE-45 - recommended practice for electrical installation on shipboard.

IEEE-383 - standard for type test of class IE electrical cables, field splices and connections for nuclear power generation stations.

ASTM-D-1360 - fire retardancy of paints (cabinet method).

ASTM-E-84 - test for surface burning characteristics of building materials.

ASTM-E-119 - fire test of building construction materials.

ASTM-E-162 - surface flammability of materials using a radiant heat energy source.

FAA 14-25.853, .855,.856,.867 - aeronautics and space (fire protection).
